About Me

A self-taught Scottish artist, passionate about all things Animal related, and loves bringing life and attitude to art, capturing subject’s characteristics and attitude with the use of contrasting colours and detail.

Cheryl Galbraith Art specialises in creating wildlife artwork using acrylics and metal sculptures. In addition to her individual work Cheryl collaborates with other artists to organise exhibitions and workshops. Through Mortar Projects an artist collective they believe in community and aims to create opportunities for artists to showcase their talents through large outdoor murals. By working together these artists can inspire each other and bring art to a wider audience.

I create art that expresses my passion for wildlife, coupled with my interest in animal behaviours & taking pleasure in capturing animals’ facial expressions and personality. My aim is to make captivating paintings, capturing my subjects characteristics and bring them to life, with the use of contrasting colours and detail, specialising in Acrylic and Spray Paint as my current medium of choice.

My artistic style is modern, expressive visual art, inspired and motivated by wonderful graffiti artists such as ‘ROA’, ‘DAleast’, ‘Dzia’, and duo ‘Pipsqueak was here’, as they all have an individuality of style of animal art creations, as well as the incredible animal artists such as Hua Tuan, Sara Butt, Helmut Koller & textile artist Sophie Standing who creates beautiful art, that also inspires me. I also have to give great credit to the many wildlife photographers who are able to capture the most unique and powerful moments in the animal world that can be admired & helps to fuse the urge to create by providing references.

I never fully pursued the artist path and chose to immerse myself in the Events & Entertainment world, surrounding myself with a variety of performers and artists, working behind the scenes within the live entertainment industry. I have been creating art on and off over the years due to challenges of my career, not finding the time. However, I have given more attention to my art in the last 5 years.

There is still so much I would love to accomplish with my art, such as planning exhibitions, working with animal charities, creating public commissions and murals, and many other projects close to my heart.
